Preconditions
- All or most of physics can be reduced to classical mechanics of a continuum.
This continuum is known historically as luminiferous aether.- Aether is, by definition, a classical medium, i.e. a medium whose elements obey the laws of classical mechanics.
- If someone suggests a theory with non-classical features then this is, by definition, not an aether theory, and thus does not deserve to be seriously regarded.
- Aether theory is essentially based on the results of the legacy continuum mechanics and can not include in itself features not compliant with textbooks on continuum mechanics.
- There exists the standard model of aether originated from the works of A.-L.Cauchy, G.Green, J.Bernoulli Jr., W.Thomson (Kelvin), O.Reynolds and others.
Someone, who does not follow this line, not worth pursuing, in my view, as well.
